Marilyn Larsen

- Principal

Marilyn Larsen has had extensive ballet training and experience over a forty five year period in both the Cecchetti and R.A.D methods of training. She studied initially with Rosslyn Charlesworth, then continued her classical training at the National Theatre Ballet School. Marilyn worked as a professional actress for six years in the Australian film, theatre and television industry during the mid to late seventies appearing in many locally made television dramas (such as ‘Bellbird’, ‘Homicide’, ‘Cop Shop’ and ‘The Box’). In 1976 she enjoyed a season performing with the Melbourne Theatre Company. Marilyn is a registered teacher with the Classical Dance Education Board. She holds a Diploma of Teaching in Early Childhood from the University of Melbourne and has worked for many years as a kindergarten teacher in private schools (At Christchurch Grammar School, Toorak College in Mt Eliza, Shelford Girls Grammar and Haileybury College at Newlands.) Marilyn spent two and a half years studying for a Diploma of Dance Teaching and Management at Box Hill Institute for Performing Arts from 2003-2005. She took Majors in Dance at both Melbourne University and Monash at Peninsula. Marilyn is a member of the Classical Dance Education Board and is a full member of the teaching fraternity of the Australian Conservatoire of Ballet.

Amanda Remington

I have been dancing for over 12 years now, being trained in Jazz, classical ballet, contemporary, hip-hop and cheerleading. I have completed ballet exams in the RAD and Russian Vaganova methods, achieving high distinctions. In 2013, I was accepted into The Victorian College of the Arts and completed my first semester there. In 2011 and 2012, I choreographed my high school productions and began teaching at Kinder ballet in 2013. Currently, I’m still training and working as a dancer, and have just completed a bachelor degree in Primary School Teaching. I am very excited to continue teaching for ‘The Caprice School of Ballet’ and have big plans ahead.

Shannon Turner

Miss Shannon has been dancing since the age of seven and has never looked back. Starting at her local dance school, she learnt her love for dancing and performing and went on to grow that into a career. She completed two years Dancing, Musical Theatre and Performing Arts full-time training at Robert Sturrock’s Industry Dance in Brunswick, where she specialised in contemporary, musical theatre and ballet.

Miss Shannon since then has become a professional dancer, working with various choreographers and companies, performing throughout Melbourne. Getting to share the stage with the likes of Rhonda Burchmore and Jessica Mauboy.
Miss Shannon is incredibly delighted to be back teaching for another year at The Caprice School of Ballet. In 2022, Miss Shannon will teach Sugar Plum Fairies/ Pre Primary Pixies, Primary Princesses and Level 1 and Level 2/3 Ballet.

Kristy Russell

Kristy has been dancing for over 10 years, studying in a broad range of styles over her time including, classical ballet, jazz, tap, pointe, contemporary/ lyrical, commercial jazz, musical theatre, hip-hop, acrobatics, Latin, acting and drama, as-well as competing within competition troupes and solos for consecutive years. Kristy studied the Cecchetti Ballet Method and has completed up to her Advanced 1 examination, she was also awarded DUX of her VCE Dance class. Kristy went onto study full-time dance at Bent Street (Sydney Campus) where is gained a wealth of knowledge and attained her Diploma of Dance (Elite Performance). Kristy is extremely honoured and excited to be joining The Caprice School of Ballet and cannot wait to watch the students grow and thrive.

Lucy Harris

I began dancing when I was 7 at The Caprice School of Ballet and have now been dancing for 10 years. I have been trained in Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Character Dance, Tap and Musical Theatre. I completed my Level 4 Vaganova Ballet Exam at The Caprice School Of Ballet and my Grade 6 RAD Ballet Exam at Jane Moore Academy Of Ballet. In 2021 I took part in State Youth Ballet’s production of ‘Sleeping Beauty’ dancing the roles of Courtier and Polonaise. I am still currently training as a dancer. Some of my qualifications include the completion of Units 1 and 2 VCE Dance and gaining my VET certificate II and III in Dance. I also have some teaching experience, as in 2019 I assisted teaching the pre-primary ballet class. I am incredibly excited to join the staff at The Caprice School Of Ballet in 2023.

Lavinia Warner

We are excited to announce that Miss Lavinia will be our new class assistant for Level One Wednesdays. Lavinia started at the school as a three year old and has studied both ballet and contemporary.
We look forward to having Lavinia as our latest staff member.
