DANCE STYLES
CLASSICAL BALLET:
Classical Ballet provides the basis for most other styles of dance.
Its origins date back 500 years and it has evolved as a highly
regarded art form over time. It is a very technical style of dance
that provides students with the foundations of correct posture,
musicality, muscle strength, and co ordination.
JAZZ:
Jazz
originated from African tribal dance. It is a dance form that
changes with the music and influences of the time. Jazz is a fun and
energetic style of dance and lends itself to dynamic movement.
TAP:
Tap
dancing emerged as a popular dance style in the late 1800’s.
Recently, groups such as the Tap Dogs have increased its popularity.
Tap is an excellent way to develop rhythm and timing and is also a
fantastic way to get fit.
CONTEMPORARY:
Contemporary is an exploratory style of dance which encompasses a
freer and more fluid movement dynamic. Contemporary classes involve
a thorough stretching routine as a warm up.
