DANCE STYLES

CLASSICAL BALLET:

Classical Ballet provides the basis for most other styles of dance. Its origins date back 500 years and it has evolved as a highly regarded art form over time. It is a very technical style of dance that provides students with the foundations of correct posture, musicality, muscle strength, and co ordination.

JAZZ 

Jazz originated from African tribal dance. It is a dance form that changes with the music and influences of the time. Jazz is a fun and energetic style of dance and lends itself to dynamic movement.

TAP:

Tap dancing emerged as a popular dance style in the late 1800’s. Recently, groups such as the Tap Dogs have increased its popularity. Tap is an excellent way to develop rhythm and timing and is also a fantastic way to get fit.

CONTEMPORARY:

Contemporary is an exploratory, lyrical style of dance which encompasses a freer and more fluid movement dynamic. Contemporary classes involve a thorough stretching routine as a warm up.

 

 MUSICAL THEATRE

 Musical theatre will be introduced in 2016. Classes will focus on singing, drama and dance. Students will be taught how these genres are combined to produce musical productions. 

HIP HOP

This popular style of dance has recently gained momentum.A dynamic style of dance embracing fast choreographed movements and routines.
